WWII Military Vehicle Convoy to Commemorate
VE-Day 70th Anniversary
On May 9th, 2015 a convoy of over 20 WWII-era
military vehicles will travel around Utah Valley to commemorate the 70th
anniversary of the WWII allied victory over the Axis powers in Europe. The
convoy will depart from Thanksgiving Point in Lehi and travel to the east side
of the valley, then south to the Orem City Center Park. After a lunch break at the
park, the convoy will then depart west and north, returning to Thanksgiving
Point. The media and general public are invited to view the vehicles and speak
with participants at the Orem City Center Park.
Convoy Schedule is as follows:
10:30 am – Departure from Thanksgiving Point Electric
Park
11:45 -12:15 – Estimated Arrival at Orem City Center Park
(400 E Center St., Orem)
1:00 – Departure from Orem City Center Park
2:15 – 2:30 pm – Estimated arrival at Thanksgiving Point
We anticipate and welcome the participation of WWII
veterans and their families. To coordinate veteran participation please contact
Lance Jensen (contact info above) or if you have a WWII era military vehicle
and would like to participate in the convoy. The Utah National Guard is
supporting this event with an escort of modern military Humvee vehicles.
The convoy event is officially recognized as the “VE-Day
Rollout 2015.” This is the 2nd annual event of this type, with the
“D-Day Rollout 2014” being the inaugural event last year. Vehicles in the
convoy are authentic military vehicles from the 1940’s and 1950’s owned by
private individuals. The convoy is estimated to be comprised of about 20-25
vehicles.
