On June 7th, 2014 a convoy of WWII-era military vehicles will travel around the Salt Lake Valley to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Allied landings in the Normandy region of France. The convoy will depart from Camp Williams and travel north to Fort Douglas in SLC, UT via the west side of the valley. After a brief stop at Fort Douglas, the convoy will then depart south returning to Camp Williams.
Convoy Schedule is as follows:

10:00 am – Departure from Camp Williams
11:30 -12:00 – Estimated Arrival at Fort Douglas Military Museum (32 Potter Street, SLC)
12:45 – Departure from Fort Douglas
2:00 – 2:30 pm – Arrival at Camp Williams

We anticipate and welcome the participation of WWII veterans and their families. To coordinate veteran participation please contact Lance Jensen (contact info above) or if you have a WWII era military vehicle and would like to participate in the convoy.

The convoy event is officially recognized as the “D-Day Rollout 2014.” Vehicles in the convoy are authentic military vehicles from the 1940’s and 1950’s owned by private individuals. The convoy is estimated to be comprised of about 20-25 vehicles. The Utah National Guard is supporting this event and will be providing facilities for convoy participants at Camp Williams and will also be providing an escort of modern military Humvee vehicles.
